Maximize Your Union With Christ - Written by Sunday Ayodele, Lagos, Nigeria and first published on Friday May 10th 2024. John 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. The depth of a believer’s connection to the Lord Jesus Christ will determine the fruits of the redemptive sacrifice of Christ he will bear. As it is that the possibility that a tree will bear fruits is tied to its branches remaining attached to it, so it is with the believer’s ability to bear fruit. Your ability to bear fruit is a direct function of how deeply rooted you are in Christ. John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. As the branch you have no business panicking or getting worried about being fruitful. You will bear fruits as long as you stay connected to the vine. As it is that you got saved by grace through your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, so it is with your ability to bear fruit. Your fruitfulness has got nothing to do with your natural human ability. God does not expect you to bear fruit outside of your union with Christ. Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. There is a big difference between producing fruits and bearing fruits. As it is that the stem of a tree is the part that determines its fruitfulness, so it is with Christ. As the Vine the Lord Jesus Christ produces the fruits; as the branch you bear the fruits. Your job is to bear (display, manifest) the fruits being produced through your union with the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. The Lord does the work; you make manifest the fruits of His working in you, by the Spirit. Walking daily in the understanding that you are the branch that bears the fruits will cause you to maximize your connectivity to the Vine. Being intentional in maximizing your union with Christ will position you to be the person the Father predestined you to be, and cause your life to abound with the fruits He ordained that you should bear. Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. You owe it to yourself to walk daily in the consciousness of the fact that God is at work in you so your life may abound with fruits. See to it that you manifest according to the workings of God in you by His Spirit. Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. Commit to being the quality of person your heavenly Father has called you to be in Christ. Choose to excel in doing the things your heavenly Father has called you to do in Christ. John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. See to it that you abide in Christ and rely more and more on Him as the true Vine to bear fruits. See to it that you make the most of the fact that you are in union with Christ to bear fruits, today and always. Think About This: John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. Action Points: 1. See your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way you can bear the fruits God ordained that you should bear. 2. Deliberately exercise faith in the fact that you are in union with Christ to bear fruits. 3. Be conscious of the fact that you are a branch that God has attached to the true Vine. 4. Be mindful of the fact that God is at work in you to cause your life to abound with fruits. Prayer: 1. Father, I ask for wisdom and grace to function daily as a branch that you have attached to the true Vine for the purpose of bearing fruits, in Jesus name. 2. Pray in the Spirit. Today’s Bible Reading: Revelation 22:1-21. Altar Call: Do you desire to be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? Then say this word of prayer with faith in your heart: Lord Jesus, I believe with my heart that you are the Son of the living God. I believe that you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I receive you now as my Saviour and my Lord. Amen. Your day is blessed. |
