To resist means to refuse to shift grounds. It means to be resolute, uncompromising in a stand you have taken in a particular matter or situation. When you insist on God's will prevailing in your life you are resisting the devil. When you refuse to doubt the word of God in the face of daunting challenges you are resisting the devil. When you keep praising God in the middle of a storm you are resisting the devil. When you refuse to stay down after a fall trusting the Lord to get you back to your feet, you are resisting the devil. When you commit to a lifestyle of righteousness and holy living you are resisting the devil. When you resist the devil he flees. Fleeing is Satan's strongest attribute. He lacks the stamina to keep at troubling those who have mastered the act of resisting him. When you take a strong stand by faith in Christ Jesus, insisting on your redemptive benefits, the devil becomes helpless. When you are lackadaisical in your faith and unwilling to zealously pursue your redemptive benefits you give Satan a foothold in your affairs. The devil loves to hang around believers who don't fight the good fight of faith. He loves hanging around those who think it is God's responsibility to engage the enemy on their behalf. Do not be ignorant of your authority in Christ. Resist the devil in all your dealings today. Take a firm stand in the word and get the fumbling devil fleeing from around you. Do not give him any space to stand in your life. Insist on the word; stand by faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Your victory is sure when you refuse to give in to the devil. Think About This: Matthew 4:10 — 11 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. Daily Affirmation: I affirm on this day my stand in putting my faith to work by the knowledge of the word. I affirm my stand in never giving the devil a foothold in my life and my affairs. I choose to walk by the Spirit and live by the word in order to live a life that is worthy of the Lord. Amen.
