Topic: "Ask In His Name." by Sunday Ayodele, Lagos, Nigeria Tuesday December 6th, 2022. Scripture Reference: John 14:14 "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." To ask for a thing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ isn't just about mentioning His name at the beginning or ending of our prayer; it is to ask with a mindset; it is to ask with an understanding that is born of possessing the revelation knowledge of His righteousness and finished work. The Lord Jesus said, "If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it". Many have quoted this scripture and asked for things without getting what they asked for. Why is this the case? The answer lies in the fact that they asked by mentioning the name of Jesus, they did not ask in the name of Jesus. Mentioning the name of Jesus and asking in the name of Jesus are two different things; they are not the same thing. Asking in the name of the Lord Jesus entails standing in His righteousness and counting on His finished work to receive and enjoy God's blessings. It is a faith act of consciously taking advantage of the righteousness of Christ and His redemptive sacrifice to place demand on the mercy of God in order to cause grace to speak to activate the manifestation of the fulfilment of God's promises. Mouthing the name of Jesus with a heart and mind driven by self-righteousness and self-effort cannot commit God to give you whatever it is you require of Him. The only way to commit the hand of God to grant your heart desire is to ask Him trusting in the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ and the sufficiency of His finished work as basis for the Father to meet your needs. God relates with you on the basis of the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work only. Outside of your faith in the righteousness of Christ and your unflinching confidence in His finished work the Father has no dealings with you. The Father expects you to relate with Him on the basis of your faith in the righteousness of Christ and confidence in the reality and power of His work. You owe it to yourself to always ask the Father standing in the righteousness of Christ Jesus. Ask counting on the fact that Jesus paid the price for it so it may be yours. Ask with absolute faith in the Lord Jesus and confidence in His finished work. Let your heart and mind be established and saturated by the sufficiency and availability of the grace of God as guaranteed by the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work, today and always. Think About This: Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Faith Confession: I stand daily in unflinching confidence before my heavenly Father in prayer and worship because of my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work. The consciousness of His righteousness and confidence in all He has done in me and for me drives me daily to the presence of my heavenly Father. I ask, seek and knock daily because of my faith in the Lord Jesus and confidence in His redemptive sacrifice. Hallelujah. Prayer: Pray in the Spirit. Daily Bible Reading: 2 Peter chapter 2 You are blessed beyond measure. |
