To Love and To Serve The greatest commandments are to love God and to love our neighbor. The great commission is to connect with others, making Christ known, serving them into the kingdom of God. We serve those we love and want to do life with. We serve in response to how the Lord has served us. We love in response to how Christ has loved us. We express our love of God by how we serve him in worship and we express our love for one another by how we serve one another. We must grow in our love of gathering and serving one another. We need a new culture of gathering for worship together and meeting each other’s needs throughout the week like the early church did in Acts 2 and 4. But we struggle with having the capacity and the courage to take the risk of gathering and establishing intimate connections. Pray for God to give us the capacity for more relationships and friends in the Lord. Pray for God to give us the courage to take risks in serving others and meeting their needs. Pray for God to give us the confidence to invite people into our homes and our lives. Pray for God to channel his love through us to serve others into the kingdom of God. Our mission is to know Christ and make him known, to love God and love others, to seek and to save the lost. Let’s create a church culture that is known for our love, service, and shared life.
