"Hope" - by Norm Russell

(Originally published 9/15/11)

In today's broken world, it is difficult to keep your head up, your optimism fresh, and a positive attitude about tomorrow. We look around us and we see people struggling to keep up with their obligations. Some are suffering with loss, and others are having to witness a loved one going through severe pain. We feel deserted by God and our faith is shaky at best.

The thing we need to hang on to is hope. Not some wishful thinking, or fond desire, but a confidence that in the end good will win out. I know this to be true, because God is the God of hope. The last word has not been written and God has not run away and left us to fend for ourselves. Not at all. In His book called the Bible, He tells us that no matter what you see, no matter how difficult the world can be and no matter how much injustice is witnessed, there is that calm assurance that in the end you win. God always has the last word. He alone controls the universe and we can rest in His promises that all is well.

The next time you feel deserted and alone, remember there is hope. As long as God is enthroned above and He always will be-have hope.

Come visit with us Sunday.
