| Practice of Eating Together - Scripture: Matthew 9:9-13 -- A common meal is what brought the church together in the first century. Believers gathered in fellowship to share in God’s love. They gathered to share life, faith, needs, and the love of Christ. Jesus was criticized by the Jews for his inclusive table fellowship. The holiness of God was meant to be set a part but not separate from the world. The holiness of God was meant to come near and draw all people into the kingdom of God. Jesus gathers all people to feast with him in fellowship to share in God’s love. The church today can still use a common table to radically form a community of believers who gather in fellowship with Jesus.
