| "Our Exalted God" - Norm Russell's sermon from 11-5-17 of this title has been posted on here and on our website for your enjoyment. This sermon by Norm Russell makes a number of points in the lesson, and develops each in detail. Here are the highlights: 1: Our God is a majestic god, which is from everlasting to everlasting. He is the creator of all that exists, and He is holy and independent. 2: God is mysterious! As noted in Isaiah 55:8-9, God's ways are often a mystery to us. We just have to trust Him that all that happens is for the best. Even God's means of salvation and revelation are a mystery; as is His infinite nature. But the most important thing in our respect is that God is merciful - and approachable. It would be easy for a being with such power to set Himself aside from us and be unreachable, but He is not that way. Although God's mercy is not to be abused (such as in Romans 6:1 that says, "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?", it is indeed inexhaustable. This is a great sermon by a masterful preacher with decades of experience - I'm sure you will like it. It's really hard to do a sermon justice just by writing about it, short of a full transcription (working on an idea about that... but it's quite a ways off. If you want to help, contact me (Mark)). I know I'm probably sounding like this is the best thing anybody has ever preached in our hearing... but this lesson had a profound effect on me, and I hope you'll hear it that the same feeling may be shared with you. |
