| Sermon Summary 5/7/17 Title: All Who are Thirsty: Work Scripture: John 4:27-42 The woman at the well comes to belief in the Jesus the Messiah and responds by testifying to her Samaritan people to come and see the man who told her everything she ever did. Her return home becomes the back stage activity, while at the front stage the disciples enter the scene. They are wowed by the oddity of Jesus talking with a woman. They don’t understand the big picture mission that the Lord is leading them into – the mission of telling the whole world of his presence and salvation. They needed a wakeup call to get beyond food and water talk to see the fields that were ripe for harvest before their very eyes. The harvest is the receiving of salvation by the Samaritans through their belief in Jesus the Messiah. Because of the woman’s witness her work of evangelism brought salvation and rejoicing to an entire community of “others”. Who are the “others” in our lives that the Lord is calling you to do the work of witnessing to them of Jesus Christ? What might happen if you do?
