Sermon Summary - 4/9/17 Sermon Title: The Road: Worship the King Scripture: Luke 24:50-53 Jesus has just commissioned his disciples to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations beginning in Jerusalem. He promised to send power from on high before they begin proclaiming the name of Jesus the Christ. The leads them out to Bethany and there he blesses them. He lifts them up before the Lord and then he is lifted up into heaven. King Jesus from the place where he was anointed and hailed as king (John 12) is not exalted and enthroned as the reigning king over all. The disciples are left full of worship, joy, and praise. The wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit is received at Pentacost (Acts 2). Jesus is still reigning as king, calling all people to repentance and to receive forgiveness. Christ is using his disciples today to calling people to become members of his kingdom, to become the true Israel, his church. Let us respond with faith, trust, belief, obedience, and praise.
