| Sermon Title: I AM: Here I Am - Moses, Exodus 3:1-10 Bryan writes the following summary: Moses has an identity crisis. He is not able to see who he is until he sees and accepts who God is. He is not able to do and become what God wants him to do and become until he puts his fear and trust in the Lord. The Lord calls and he will accomplish his work in us and through us towards the redemption of all people. Mark's Comments after the sermon: In this lesson Moses faced a situation that WE often face now and then. God wants us to do something, but we feel inadequate for the job. Thinking -They won't listen to me- or -They won't believe me- and so on. God had to CONVINCE Moses that he was up to the job, but in order for Moses to accept his (Moses) role and accept himself as capable, he first had to accept GOD for whom HE was. God said to tell them that He was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob - in a way, establishing His own pedigree of sorts. To take things a bit further, God gave Moses the ability to perform a few miracles - turning his staff to a snake and back, placing his hand in his pocket and having it come out stone white as of Leprosy and then back again, and to have his staff turn to a snake and back. I felt that God may well have given Moses these abilities to convince himself as much as the others! :-) It's a great story - be sure to listen to it. Run time is 32:18 |
