| 2016-07-31 - Norm Russell - When Jesus walked the earth, there was usually always a crowd around Him. Some were curious, some wanted something from Him, but there was just ALWAYS a crowd. Jesus, unlike the pharises, did not seek power or fame... only to serve and to save. The person of Jesus was very charismatic. There are people like that today, many are good but some are not. How to tell the difference, and how to understand that if you want to be a follower of Jesus, it may very well require some changes on YOUR part. Jesus does not change to suit us, we change to emulate HIM. One church that Norm mentions anonymously here, sent out flyers that if people would come there they promised them "A comfortable atmosphere and - believe it or not, YOU WILL HAVE FUN HERE." The whole point of this lesson is this: Life is challenging. Here in our own county we have homeless teenagers, homeless men and women, and the highest child abuse rates in the state. We need to change ourselves to better follow Christ. God has to be THE FOCAL POINT of our entire lives, not just something we do on Sundays.
