Even as greatly blessed as Mary was to have brought him into the world, Jesus said that the blessings on those who hear the Word and obey it will receive an even greater blessing. The point of this lesson is Jesus offers an exceptional blessing for those who follow Him. Bill Gaither wrote a hymn, one vere says: "From the doors of the orphanage to the house of a king No longer and outcast a new song I sing. From rags unto riches, from the rich to the poor I'm not worthy to be here, but thank God I belong." There is no greater blessing than to be part of a family. What does it mean to be part of a family? First of all, we have a father who loves us. The word -father- has different meanings to many of us, sometimes good, sometimes ones we would like to forget. The Bible speaks of the -Father- in its respect in a loving way. There is never a time when God does not love us - EVER. READ THAT AGAIN: YOU CAN NEVER DRIFT SO FAR AWAY THAT GOD DOES NOT LOVE YOU - EVER!! Why? Because God loves all of us, as deeply as any one of us can be loved - and in Hebrews 2:10 and following says: 10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[g] and in verses 14-18 we see a reminder that Jesus did indeed leave Heaven for a while and live as we do, so that He knows all of what we live like Heb 2:14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like them,[k] fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." (NIV, courtesy of Biblegateway.com) Jesus stands as a lawyer or attorney would. He represents us before the evil one, interceding as one who could not possibly understand us better. For these any many other reason, if someone asks you "Are you going to heaven?" you can answer "ABSOLUTELY!!" We were chosen by Him, adopted by Him, Redeemed, given the mystery, and we have an inheritance, and you will see it. These are very precious gifts that are beyond money. Don't throw them away. This written description can't begin to tell you how important this less could be to you. Please hear it all. And remember that no matter what bad things you may have done, God stands ready to forgive you. |
