2016-01-31 - "Keeping A Clean House" - Norm's Sunday Sermon 2016 | |||||
Based on Luke 11:24-26 Norm teaches on how to maintain a clean house in a spiritual sense. Jesus provided a cleansing so many years ago, and it still happens today. It is a work of God and made possible by of Jesus, and the cleansing is complete in every way. This cleansing took place at our baptism. Satan, on the other hand, would like us to always remember what God has forgiven, so that we won't feel worthy of His enormous gift. People have developed a sense of negligence. We have substituted religion for conversion. We have substituted knowledge for spirituality and DOING for FAITHFULNESS. We have even substituted perseverance for worship. If we are going to be successful, we need to have a continuous FILLING of ourselves. We have to learn to keep the right company. It is true to the old saying that 'bad friends corrupt good morals' - just as someone trying to overcome alcoholism should not hang out in bars or around other alcoholics. Read the passage from Hebrews 10:23-25: 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. In addition to that, we need to have a whole new set of THOUGHTS about what our life and its goals can and will be. We need to be studying the Bible (not only on Sundays!) and actively PURSUING GOD! Not just a prayer here and there when we or someone we know is grieving or in trouble. Are you in trouble? Do you need help with it? Contact us right away and we'll do our best to help you. Call the church office (except on Mondays) or use the CONTACT US option at the top part of this page. That will send an email to me (Mark Magill, site admin) and I'll get it to the right person to help you ASAP if I can't help you myself. |
