She was wearing a 25-+ Caret engagement ring and, a pair of $75,000.00 earrings while swimming in the ocean. She got really upset with her boyfriend for throwing her in the water causing her (as she put it) to lose the earrings. My immediate response was, “What was she doing wearing earrings and a ring of that expense while swimming in the ocean?” People hear such things as this and envy the rich and famous. Especially in today’s economic climate, envying those who have so much is becoming quite a problem. Politicians use this envy to create class warfare and it is dividing our nation. Paul wrote from his prison cell, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” Philippians 4:11-12 Riches will never bring you contentment and will never bring you happiness. I suggest you count your blessings and thank God for all He has blessed you with, and before you know it you will find yourself being contented. Come see us Sunday. |
