"Batting Average" by Joe Maxwell - Baseball is my favorite sport! I was never good at it -- could not even afford a glove, but I enjoyed watching any game. The sport is lot like life, and the opposing managers are engaged in a big chess game. When a batter gets up at the plate, his batting average is given. Sometimes he is hot, and sometimes he is in a slump but a batter seldom has a 300 average, it is in the mid 200's. A 300 hitter is rare. Sometimes you hear about someone hitting a 1,000 -- never. Managers love 300 hitters, and they are well placed in the line up. Your Christian life is like a baseball game in that sometimes you are in a slump. A failure here, a sin there. We may have hurt someone, or a sin has affected the church. Don't worry about being traded to the opposite team. God is going to keep you! I love you - Joe |
