"HEAVENLY PROMISES" by David Hodge
Mark
"Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death." - Proverbs 11:4 NIV

"You can't take it with you", the old adage goes. Even if you COULD take it with you, what would it buy you? What would it avail? Heaven doesn't set store in wealth. They don't even take Visa. As a matter of fact, the STREETS of Heaven are PAVED with the very thing that we hold so dear on earth. This should show you what regard wealth is given in Heaven AND by God, Himself. Do you think God will look at our checkbook and give us special privileges in the final days? Does God grant leniency due to ourexpertise in investing and making money when the banks are called closed due to rapture? Remember that the parable of the talents that Jesus used was
about the GIFTS and RESOURCES that God gives us to use for His Kingdom and His glory, not about managing money. As a matter of fact, there are few topics that Jesus spent more time preaching and teaching about than money and its misuse.

We are taught in God's word and we see it in practice that we come into this world and we leave this world with nothing. The only thing that counts is what you do with God's resources, as stewards, while here on earth. Are the talents and resources wasted or are they put to use for God's glory? If one uses what God has given Him wisely and within God's will to affect this world for His kingdom, this is attributed to him as righteousness. Like the faith of Abraham was attributed to him as righteousness, so is our use of what God gives us for His glory. This, stemming from our bedrock belief in Jesus Christ as Lord of our Lives and Savior of our souls, IS righteousness.
And it is THIS RIGHTEOUSNESS that opens the gates of Heaven for us. We are righteous, however, NOT by what we do, but that we are made righteous THROUGH our belief in Jesus Christ and, in THIS, is our stewardship accounted to us. Thus, the PROMISE of God, THROUGH Jesus, that our righteousness will save us from death in separation FROM God.
