Minute Message 8/20/11 - Does It Matter? The legend of the famous Butch Cassidy is alive and well. It seems a book store owner in Utah has, in his possession, a manuscript he believes was written by the outlaw years after he was reported to have been killed in a shootout in Bolivia. It does have some interesting things in it and only the author would know if it was really written by Cassidy, and he is dead. There are those who believe it to be authentic, and there are just as many who believe it is fake. How could you ever resolve the mystery? Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? Actually, it does not matter in the least bit. We know Cassidy lived, we know he died, but where and when matters little. But, when it comes to Jesus, it all matters. Jesus is God in human flesh, He came to this world during the time of the Roman Empire, He was born to a virgin named Mary, He lived 33 years, was crucified on a cross by Rome, and rose from the dead three days later. His teachings and His life have changed the world, and continues to impact those who believe in Him. Belief in Him is a matter of life and death, John 8:24. What you believe about Butch Cassidy matters little. What you believe about Jesus does. Come see us Sunday. - Norm Russell. |
