Sometimes it can be rather amusing to hear people attempt to say something without coming out and saying it as it is. We will use words that are less offensive and less inflammatory so that the person speaking will continue getting a hearing. Jesus once said let your yes be yes and your no be no. In other words say what you mean and mean what you say. Applying that to what has just been said, people need to simply tell the truth so there can be no misunderstanding. Lately, we have heard "There is a trust deficit in Washington." What that means is, "No one trusts the government." The scandals that have emerged are destroying what little trust people had in their elected officials and it is getting worse with each days testimony. Thus, we have a "trust deficit." Someone once said, "Honesty is the best policy." That principle holds true in family, business, religion, and in government. Once a person has been caught in not telling the truth, the chances of believing them again have been eroded. There can be no "truth deficit" in a relationship. Come worship with us Sunday to hear truth. |
