Stress has been killing us for a long time. A major contributor to heart attacks, stress plagues our society to the point that we are being buried by the very thing we should be avoiding. How many of us find ourselves "stressed out" over issues we have no control over? How many of us are stressed over things we do not even know exist? And, how many of us get stressed over things that do not amount to anything or do not matter? I am not suggesting that we stick out heads in the sand and ignore the obvious, but I am suggesting that in light of all that is so stressful for us that we step back and take inventory of what it is that is creating our problems. We, at times, get all excited about things that are none of our business. Someone with more than fifteen itmes gets in a line reserved for those with fifteen items or less has been known to upset those in another line. We can name numerous such incidents, but the fact remains it should not cause us to get excited. Let me encourage you to read Psalm 46:10 where the writer says, "Be still and know that I am God." Think it might help? |
