Max Lucado, in one of his encouraging messages wrote: "On the wall of a concentration camp, a prisoner had carved the following words, "I believe in the sun even though it doesn't shine, I believe in love, even when it isn't shown, I believe in God, even when He doesn't speak."" I have no idea who wrote those words, but I do appreciate Max sharing them with us. Sometimes life can be so difficult that all you have left to hang on to is what you believe to be true. There are people in scripture who found themselves facing moments of despair. They had reached the end of their rope and were ready to give up. But they found new strength when they look to God. They rested in His promises and reflected on those moments when God came and rescued them. Great men such as King David, the Prophet Jeremiah, and others had been where you may be right now. The Psalmist wrote, "God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change and though the mountain slip into the heart of the sea. Though it's waters roar and foam, though mountains quake at it's swelling pride." Psalm 46:1-3. Let God be your refuge. |
