KJV - All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth (or well being).

ISV - Everything is permissible (or lawful), but not everything is helpful. Everything is permissible, but not everything builds up (or edifys). No one should seek his own welfare, but rather his neighbors.

Thought: Remember when reading your bibles to put what you read into context. Who wrote it, when they wrote it and who they were writing to. We can still apply what we read to our daily lifes. And these verses are no different. Just because we can does not always mean we should. If we keep in mind the welfare of others we should be doing good not only for ourselves but for them also.
