While Jesus was breathing His last on the cross, we are told that there was total darkness because the sun stopped shining. Upon reading those words, I began to reflect upon how many today have faced moments when the sun stopped shining. Consider the fact that this event took place at mid day. Activity was going on in every facet of the world. Stores were selling their goods and street vendors were hawking their wares. Families were busy with everyday chores and children were playing in the streets. Then, suddenly, the sun stopped shining and life seemed to come to a halt. How many of you have felt the sun stop shining in your life? You lost a child, a spouse, or maybe you heard tragic news from the doctor about tests. Suddenly the sun stopped shining. You say, "all was well, now this." Let me remind you that just as the sun stopped shining for 3 hours, it was temporary and what you are dealing with is also temporary. You will once again see the sun shining. Your life will be changed, there is no question of that, but rest assured the sun will shine again. God has made that promise. If the sun has stopped shining for you, take courage , you have a God that loves you and He will bring sunshine back into your life. |
