Your Character by Norm Russell
Cheryl Owens
It looks as though the Senate majority leader has lit a fire storm of controversy by stating on the Senate floor that Mitt Romney has not paid taxes for ten years. I have no idea if Romney has paid his taxes or not, but it is interesting how quickly people will believe something without any evidence to prove that statement. If Mr. Reid's statement turns out to be false, he will be remembered as the person who put an election above his own character.
Following the resurrection of Jesus, some guards went into the city of Jerusalem and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. The Jewish leaders then took some money and gave it to the guards and told them to say that His disciples came by night and stole the body while they were asleep. The Bible says, "and this story was widely spread among the Jews to this day." Matthew 28: 11-15 The guards sold their character for money.
How many of us have been guilty of selling our character for some cheap item or money? It takes a lifetime to build one's integrity, and why would anyone sell it so cheaply is beyond comprehension. Our reputation should mean something to us because it speaks of how people think of us. What do people think of you? Be careful, your character is too valuable to sell for any amount.
