I drove by a pasture with two horses in it. The grass was tall and green. There was no question that the animals had more than adequate food to eat in the field. However, they appeared to not appreciate what they had for they both had their heads either over or through the fence attempting to eat the grass and weed along the road.
It was a humorous sight, but humans are not much different. It was the late Erma Bombeck who wrote, "The grass is always greener over the spetic tank." How often have people chosen to throw off a husband or wife for a new one only to find that the new one is not as good as the one they had? How often have we tossed aside a toy that had entertained us for some time for a new and latest gadget only to find the old one was far better?
We even treat God this way. He showers us with blessings that we are incapable of enjoying to the fullest, but we throw them away for something we deem to be more relevant or up-to-date. Though we think we have found our treasure, the truth is we traded away eternal blessings for a temporary fix.
