For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (material possessions etc.). Thought: What is it we treasure most in our lives? Is it material items such as homes, cars, wealth or power? Is it people, our children, family, friends? Don't get me wrong, I don't think having stuff is necessarily wrong or bad. And family and friends are a blessing. However when we let them take presidence over God by placing them before God we are wrong! All we have is a gift from God, especially our loved ones. When you use your family functions as an excuse to not come to Sunday Service's or Bible Classes you place them above God. You tell God they are more important than He is. And when you say God understands that sometimes we are busy with other things you insult God! When you die do you want to hear God say to you, I am sorry but I am to busy today, not quite sure when I will have time for you? |
