You do not know Maria Sanderson. She passed away recently at the age of 84. Her life was hard. She was born on the island of Crete June 6, 1927. When she was eight, her mother died and four years later her father passed away. She was an orphan, having no place she could call home. She ate what she could find in garbage cans, which at times were only potato peelings. Somehow, she managed to save $266.50 for passage on a ship that took her to Canada. She made her way to the US with hopes and dreams of a good life. August 1, 1954 she was awarded natulalization and became a real patriot. She saw being a citizen as a privilege, not a right. Her favorite colors were red, white and blue. I have given you a small glimpse into her life to say this: Sometimes we tend to think that being an American is a right rather than a privilege. I am thankful I was born here and that I have a country that is the envy of every nation. We enjoy freedoms that many people only dream of. What a privilege. Today our country is seriously broken Those of us who claim to be Christians need to be lifting our nation and its leader up to God in prayer, praying He will heal us. Will you do that?
