Cleaning Out by Norm Russell 3-3-12

I cleaned out my billfold the other day. While searching for a business card, I found stuff that simply needed to go. Cards from people who might not even be alive and businesses that I either no longer frequent or they no longer exist. When I was finised I could put my wallet in my back pocket and sit down without throwing my back out.
Wouldn't it be great if we could do some internal cleaning in such an easy way? Wouldn't you like to throw away bad attitudes, quick temper, hatred, anger and some old memories of hurts that seem to always surface? Those things are so destructive to us. They interfere with our outlook on life, personal relationships, and our happiness.
I may not be able to divest myself of some memories of things I have said or done, but this one thing I know-because of Jesus Christ I never have to face the penalty of such actions. It is encouraging also to know that God still cares about me in spite of my failures. Though I feel bad about those things I cannot change the past. I can however use my past to be a better servant of God.
