Monday was the day set aside to honor those who filled the oval office as our nation's president. We could debate who we thought were the best men who served our country in this capacity, but it would all be speculative. God has told His people to pray for those in authority. He did not say, "pray for those you like or support," but rather He said, "I urge then, first of all that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-for kings and all those in authority." Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to pray for those who are making decisions that are in opposition to God. However, if all of us were to begin praying for our leaders, who knows what can take place? I suggest we pray that those in power would become statesmen rather than politicians-people who have our nations interests at heart rather than their party's. Let us pray that they would have discipline in their own life and that hey would be wise and fair in their decisions. Our nations needs healing and I believe it begins with us who are a people of faith. |
