There are people who receive rewards for their public service. Community leaders go to great length to recognize citizens that have given of themselves to the betterment of their community. We applaud those efforts. It is unfortunate that there are those who labor for the good of others who do so quietly and, even though they are the unnoticed, they keep on doing what they do without letting up. They will never receive a plaque or have their picture in the paper. They will not receive the "citizen of the year" award and their name will not appear in a "whose who" listing. But, that does not stop them from serving. While meditating on these things, my thoughts went to all those who are not mentioned by name in the Bible. We all have heard of Moses, David, Solomon, Paul, Peter, John and on and on the list goes. But what about those whose names are absent? We only know them by how they are described in scripture, or by what they did, such as the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment and was healed. We know nothing more about them. However, God knows who they are and He knows what they did. Furthermore, He knows who you are and what you are doing. Come see us Sunday? |
