Sometimes what you say, or what you write is misunderstood. You know what you wrote, but when someone else reads it they have no idea what you were thinking at the time. A friend of mine once gave me some good counsel about my writing. He said, "You need to read what you write before you send it for publication." I have followed that advise but I still find that I am at times misunderstood. This is especially true when I preach. I have in my library a number of books that attempt to explain what God said. That is a tremendously bold undertaking. God is not unclear in what He says. The problem lies with us. When Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Me." His words are hard to misunderstand. He is very clear in His directive. Yet, some feel that Jesus is not the only way to God, and that He did not mean He was the only way. God does not need someone to interpret His message. As one of my professors put it, "God says what He means and means what He says." I encourage you to read your Bible and let God speak to you through it. He has a message for you, and He is quite capable of communicating it to you. |
