It is so simple to stop trying. You think you are going to make it, but then catastrophe strikes and you wonder what's the use. You have to admire those who refuse to give up or accept the status quo. A child is born into poverty. He/she is told you will never get out of the economic or social setting you are now in. But the child has a dream. This child wants something better. This child wants to reach for the stars. So he/she dreams and looks for opportunity to begin the journey from poverty to success. Dreams do not become reality overnight and success does not occur without a lot of hard work and numerous setbacks. However, when you look at the alternative, allowing things to remain as they are, doing nothing is not an option. Our parents and grandparents left us a legacy. Being responsible for yourself is an absolute necessity if we wish a better tomorrow. The great depression and subsequent recessions created setbacks that hurt many. For others, it created opportunities. God gives us opportunities to make life better. However, we need to get up and apply ourselves. |
