From Within On a wall at a high school in Hillsboro, Batman is quoted as saying, “It is not what is hidden inside me that defines me, it is what I do that defines me.” Well, with all due respect to the infamous Batman, Jesus had something quite different to say. He said, “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things that defile the man.” Matthew 15:18-20. We often speak of someone having a good heart, or a wicked heart. We say this because an individuals actions are a manifestation of what is inside the person. His true nature is being shown through his/her behavior. It is for this reason that we understand that rules, or laws will never bring change in our world. We have laws forbidding murder, theft, and every other behavior that will not be tolerated by a responsible society. However, people are still committing crimes. The reason? Laws change no one, it takes a changed heart to produce a change in behavior. Come visit with us Sunday. |

Amen to that, without changing ones heart there can never be a change in our behavior. With Gods, help and prayer and a church family that loves us we can be that changed person. |
