What things are Important to You? Lk 16: 19-25
Cheryl Owens
The rich Man and Lazarus: "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores." "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he call to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

Thoughts: My husband keeps telling me we are rich. I have to admit until recently I didn't think so. The more I grow in Christ the richer I realize we are. We don't own a mansion, but have a nice home, a roof over our heads. We can buy all the food we need every month. We have transportation to come and go as we please. Our bills get paid, our medical taken care of.

Is there a Lazarus out there for all of us? YES there is! We need to look around us, Is there a child at school who could use your help in some way. Do you have a neighbor who could use a little help with something. It does not have to be money, maybe a meaningless chore to you but, it would be a great blessing to them. Sometimes just a word of encouragement is all that is needed. Don't overlook the spiritual blessing you could also be to someone. There is always someone out there who needs to hear about Jesus, look for those opportunities to share your salvation with someone and give a helping hand to someone in need. Child, teen, young adult or old there are always opportunities out there for us, take advantage of them. Above all don't end up like the rich man.
