In 1963 a movie came out called, “The Birds.” It was filmed at Bodega Bay California and had such stars as Rod Taylor, Suzanne Pleshette and Jessica Tandy. Of Course, this was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s many films that was intended to scare you to death. I have never forgotten the film. Occasionally, my wife will call and suggest we meet for coffee. I walk to the Safeway Grocery Store to meet her and on the way there is a house that apparently feels sorry for birds and so they throw out a banquet of grain for their feathered friends. The first time I passed that way I noticed a number of birds gathered on a wire that crosses the street overhead. Not a small number, a large number. Care to guess what entered my mind the moment I saw them? Yep, “The Birds.” I avoid that street. Isn’t it interesting how easy it is to leave impressions on a person’s mind? I saw the movie once and that was all it took to forever write a message on my mind. Consider your children. They have a mind that is being written on every day. Messages that are engraved, many of which will go with them all their life. What messages are you writing on your child’s mind? Come visit with us Sunday. Norm |

Oh boy! How could I ever forget this movie back in the days before movie ratings! My parents let us watch it for some reason when I was small, I would have been about 8 at the time. That was about 10 years too early. Like Norm, I could hardly go by a patch of birds or a flock of them (especially black ones!) without thinking of the movie. Now, I love birds, particularly Seagulls, and yes - even black crows... |
