(Jesus had asked about John's baptism.) And they discussed it with one another, saying, "If we say, "from heaven," he will say, " "Why then did you not believe him?" But shall we say, "From man?"--they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet. So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them "Neither will I tell you by waht authority I do these things." Thought: My thought here drifts to others areas. Do we take other commands in the Bible and bend them to fit our excuses for why we don't do what we know is right? We make excuses all the time trying to blend our lifestyles and what we know to be biblically right. Let's face it, in the end that's all they really are is excuses (and bad ones at that) to do what we will and not God's will. Do we tell Jesus we don't know that answer when in our heart of hearts we do? |
